Exercise in water is an ideal non-impact fitness activity that is suitable for anyone to participate in - male, female, young, elderly, pregnant, overweight, people with medical conditions and those recovering from an injury.
It's a fun, safe, challenging and effective water workout for all ages and abilities including non-swimmers and those that are less confident in the water. The water's resistance is used to strengthen your muscles and joints and to improve your cardiovascular ability and flexibility. Equipment can also be used to provide a more challenging workout.
"The myth that aqua is less suitable for cardiovascular fitness training than land based exercise can be quickly dispelled" once you enter into the water. It is an enjoyable activity moving to music whilst experiencing many of the benefits of exercising in water. Most exercises are performed in a vertical position and you can work at your own pace, whether high or low intensity or somewhere in between.
Don't be afraid to take the plunge!
This is a complete workout class for everyone. Commencing with an aerobic style warm-up, the class then focuses on toning and strengthening the body using just your own body weight or a variety of resistance equipment such as weights, bands and paper plates. So if it's good levels of strength and fitness that you're looking for, this is the class for you.

It is a fitness programme that incorporates deep stretch, Yoga postures and Pilates exercises. Class participants can learn how to identify their bodies stabilising muscles and to use them effectively and efficiently to improve their posture and move with more confidence
Freestyle Fitness Yoga is not a spiritual experience yet mimics yoga in its breathing & style offering postures that endorse strength and stability.Whilst there is no dogma, chanting or philosophy attached to the workout It is posturally, culturally & gender specific to suit the typical Group Exercise participant and is designed for the apparently healthy person - it is not though appropriate for pregnant women, people with certain medical conditions or for people with diagnosed back or joint problems.
There are no Sanskrit terms as the postures are prescribed from the body's natural anatomical perspective using the language of fitness - no yoga names are used and extreme postures that exceed optimal ranges of movement generally are avoided. Fitness Pilates and fitness exercise that target and positively enhance the bodies postural muscles are included and during Freestyle Fitness Yoga, moves and postures can be sequenced together to the beat of the music making transitions seamless and graceful.
